The difference between geomembrane and geotextile

Both belong to geotechnical materials, and their differences are as follows:

(1) Different raw materials, geomembrane is made from brand new polyethylene resin particles; Geotextiles are made from polyester or polypropylene fibers.

(2) The production process is also different, and the geomembrane can be made through a tape casting calendering process or a blown film three-layer coextrusion process; The geotextile is formed through a non woven repeated needle punching process.

(3) The performance is also different, and the geomembrane is mainly used for seepage prevention of the main body; Geotextiles have water permeability and mainly serve as reinforcement, protection, and filtration in engineering.

(4) The price is also different. Geomembranes are calculated based on their thickness, and the thicker the thickness, the higher the price. Most of the HDPE impermeable membranes used in landfills are designed to meet the 1.5 or 1.0 mm urban construction standards; Geotextiles are based on the weight of grams per square meter. The higher the weight, the higher the price.
